May 24, 2009

Pics of Emily Ballerina in her latest peformance with the Ballet and Performing Arts dance studio…Emily was in the Sleeping Beauty waltz in Act I and lead the little ballerinas in Animal Kingdon in Act II. The performance was held at the Scottish Rite Temple in El Paso. A very old, beautiful auditorium with 2 spinx’s statues on pillars guarding the front entrance.

Roses

July 1, 2007

Roses add color, fragrance, & a smile to all who see them. I especially enjoy growing them in my backyard to share with neighbors and family.

The above rose is called Aperitif. It’s a fragrant tea rose with beautiful pale yellow blooms. This is my daughter, Emily’s favorite rose. We grew this one in our backyard a couple of years ago.

I usually buy Jackson and Perkins roses and have had good luck with their new generation roses, which are hardier than normal, which makes them ideal to grow in our unpredictable Kentucky weather.  Check out their link: www.jacksonandperkins.com

They’ve been around for over 135 years so they know tons about rose varieties and how to help you grow the best blooming and troube-free plants. They have their own exclusive roses, including the Rose of the Year® , April in Paris, shown below) and Floribunda of the Year®.
